I love drinking tea – I’m a tea man. Chinese, Japanese, Taiwanese inparticular. Loose leave tea that is. And one of my main issues in everyday life was that I just could not find a great thermos bottle to keep my tea warm.

Sure – there are many of them – and I literally went through dozens. And yes, many of them keep the tea hot really good and long.

But – and that is a big but – they also change the taste of the tea. The longer you have tea inside there, the more you taste the taste of the bottle. And that totally spoils my tea experience. Call me picky.

But now, finally, I came across a bottle that I can not praise highly enough. Because not only does it keep tea hot for long periods of time, but it just DOESN’T TASTE. Even if you have pure hot water in there for 12 hours – it will still taste just like water, and not like the coating of the bottle.

And that is just great. That is what a bottle is supposed to do.

Now what are those magic bottles? They are made in Thailand by a Japanese company called zojirushi.

They have different kinds of bottles though, so make sure that you take the ones with a fluorine coating! The other ones – nah, same old, same old. But the fluorine coating of the thermos bottles is what really keeps temperatures hot and does not alter the taste.

The only downside is that the only model which has an inbuilt tea strainer is a bit too small for me (I’d like it as a 0,5l bottle), and that it doesn’t have an inbuilt cup. You can take off the top and then you have a small space where you can put your loose tea leaves, but it doesn’t make for a good cup. Other than that, it’s just perfect.

The author writes that it’s equal in quality to brands like All-Clad, Caphalon and Le Creuset, but much more decently priced. However, from the authors experience after 20 years of using Chantal cookware it is still doing it’s job perfectly and even looks beautiful. Chantal cookware is made from solid steel (good heat conduction) with enamel coating (naturally non-sticky, robust, non-reactive with foods). And It’s easy to maintain.
